Android (Termux)

On Android

• Install Termux from F-Droid: Get Termux from F-Droid or its GitHub releases, not the Google Play Store: that version is no longer maintained.
• Pick a mirror: Run termux-change-repo on its own and choose a mirror group close to you.
• Install and start: Run the Android commands one line at a time, answering Y when Termux asks. When SillyTavern is running, open http://127.0.0.1:8000 in Chrome.
• Next time: Open Termux, run cd ~/SillyTavern, then bash start.sh. To update, run git pull --rebase --autostash in the same folder.

On iPhone

• Install SillyTavern on your computer: Follow the install guide for Windows, Mac or Linux and start it once, which creates config.yaml in the SillyTavern folder.
• Let your phone in: Open config.yaml in the SillyTavern folder, not the one inside default. Set listen: true, add the whitelist lines from the iPhone tab, then restart SillyTavern.
• Open it in Safari: Find your computer's local IP address and open http://<that IP>:8000 on the iPhone, on the same Wi-Fi. Use http, not https.
• Away from home: Do not open the port on your router. Reach your computer through a VPN such as Tailscale instead.

If something goes wrong

• Unsupported platform: android arm: 32-bit Android needs one more package: run pkg install esbuild, then the install commands again.
• Stops with the screen off: Tap Acquire wakelock in the Termux notification, so Android keeps SillyTavern running.
• Slow or out of memory: Run nano ~/SillyTavern/config.yaml and, under performance, set lazyLoadCharacters: true and useDiskCache: false.
• iPhone cannot connect: Check that listen is true, the whitelist has your network, SillyTavern was restarted and both devices are on the same Wi-Fi.
