Set it up in one minute

  • Get a key: Start on the $2 trial credit, or top up from $10 below and the key arrives by email.
  • Open Settings, then Chat Bot: Open Settings and go to Chat Bot. Under Model, choose Custom API.
  • Paste the values: URL takes the full https://api.apisrouter.com/v1/chat/completions. Put your key under Key/Password and a model ID such as deepseek-v4.1-flash under Request Model, and leave Format on OpenAI Compatible.
  • Send a message: Open a character and chat. To switch models later, change Request Model; the key stays the same.

If it does not answer

  • 404: The URL must be the full address, ending in /chat/completions.
  • model_not_found: Request Model must be an exact model ID in lowercase, such as deepseek-v4.1-flash.
  • 401: The key is incomplete or has a space at either end. Paste it again under Key/Password.

Can I use Claude in RisuAI?

Yes, on the same Custom API: put a Claude model ID, such as claude-sonnet-4-6 or claude-opus-5-5, under Request Model and keep Format on OpenAI Compatible.

Which model should I use?

DeepSeek V4.1 Flash for long, cheap chats; Claude Sonnet 4.6 or Claude Opus 5.5 for scenes that need more care. One key covers all of them; what $10 buys on each is listed above.

Does the same key work in SillyTavern?

Yes. SillyTavern takes the base URL, https://api.apisrouter.com/v1, and adds /chat/completions itself; RisuAI takes the full address.

Do unused credits expire?

No. Credit stays in your balance until you use it, and requests stop when it runs out, so there are no surprise bills.
